Seed Producer Pays $280,000 Fine to Arkansas Over Failure to Report Chinese Regime OwnershipA seed producer has paid a $280,000 fine to the state of Arkansas for failing to report that the Chinese regime owns a stake in the company, Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin said on Thursday. Syngenta Seeds LLC, a Switzerland-headquartered producer of genetically modified crop seeds, owns about 160 acres of farmland in Arkansas’ Craighead County through a subsidiary, Northrup King Seed Co., according to the attorney general’s office. In 2015, agrochemical giant Monsanto made a bid to purchase Syngenta, but that bid fell through. The company was then approached by state-owned China National Chemical Corporation, also known as ChemChina, and a purchase was finalized in 2017. Public Inquiry on Foreign Interference Opens Application for Stakeholders' ParticipationThe federal public inquiry investigating foreign interference in Canadian elections has extended invitations to individuals and groups to apply for standing before the commission. It also announced that one of the lawyers who led the Emergencies Act inquiry will be lead counsel for the probe. Feds Charge Florida Lawyer With Attempt to Bomb Chinese Embassy's Outer WallThe Department of Justice has arrested and charged a Florida man with attempting to bomb the Chinese Embassy in Washington in September. The DOJ accuses Christopher Rodriguez, a licensed Florida Attorney, of traveling up to Washington and placing a bag full of explosives against the back wall and outer fence of the Chinese Embassy at some point before 3 a.m. on Sept. 25. The suspected bomb consisted of about 15 pounds of binary explosives, which can be set off by shooting at them with a firearm. Authorities believe Mr. Rodriguez placed the backpack about 12 feet from the outer wall of the embassy and that he attempted to set off the explosive device with a few gunshots....
