Hurricane Francine makes landfall in the Parish of Terrebonne in southern Louisiana early Wednesday night. According to the National Hurricane Center, maximum sustained winds are estimated to be almost 100 mph, making Francine a category 2 hurricane. Sept. 11, 2024. 
A decaying Francine still has the potential to produce widespread rainfall, gusty winds and even a tornado threat as far north as the Middle Mississippi River Valley as the storm’s moisture envelope slowly pushes northward through the end of the week.
