The Department of Chemistry of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and a start-up company, EC Innovation Limited, will exhibit their latest invention, “EC Flow System,” at the “InnoCarnival 2023” to be held from Oct. 28 to Nov. 5. This invention can collect agricultural wastewater, remove toxic nitrogen oxides and residues, and then convert it into a solution containing nutrients for irrigation and fertilization. The R&D team hopes that this project can help create a sustainable plantation ecology for the local farming community and even extend it to other regions. HKU mentioned that when fertilizers are added to plants traditionally, only 40 percent of the fertilizer is absorbed, while the remaining 60 percent is discharged. Not only is it a waste, but the fertilizer containing toxic substances will pollute the environment and wreak havoc on marine ecology. The ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has removed its 2021 restrictions on foreign investment in the manufacturing sector. China observers believe it’s the regime’s attempt to save it’s declining economy and a contingency measure forced on the regime by the current economic difficulties. However, they say the policy is contradictory to the CCP’s core emphasis on its political security, and therefore, in the long run, the policy change won’t have much effect on the economy. The CCP leader Xi Jinping announced the “eight actions” that the CCP would take at the Belt and Road Summit in Beijing on Oct. 18, which included “comprehensively lifting restrictions on foreign investment access in the manufacturing sector.”... 
Tech giants Samsung and SK Hynix have long grappled with technology espionage orchestrated by the Chinese regime. Recent events have further exposed vulnerabilities, including the arrest of a former Samsung researcher and the conviction of a South Korean executive linked to SK Hynix. South Korean authorities have charged a 49-year-old former head researcher, known only as “A,” from Samsung Display (SDC) for violations under the “Unfair Competition Prevention Act.” The charge sheet alleges that between 2018 and May 2020, “A” sought to leak critical SDC technologies associated with OLED display ELA (Excimer Laser Annealing) equipment and reverse optical systems, in addition to OCR inkjet technologies, to companies in China....
